Where To Find A New GPS Receiver

By Trevor Gartreese

The new GPS technology has caused many changes in personal navigation, public transportation and vehicle tracking. With a simple GPS receiver you can access the orbiting satellites and get information on the current location, the destination and the shortest route to reach it. Moreover, new GPS units provide information on hotels, traffic conditions, ATMS, restaurants and gas stations for the map on which you navigate. Discreet, convenient and highly reliable, the new GPS units have marked a shift in technological development and a new age of communications. Depending on the manufacturer, the features incorporated in a GPS unit can differ a lot.

Some new GPS devices come with pre-installed maps for certain geographical areas. For models that lack this kind of availability, or for very peculiar applications, a special software is used to download the maps. Processor speed, unit memory and touch screens are other improvements worth mentioning. The access to the information on position is nearly instantaneous when the GPS operates according to advanced parameters.

Minimum wiring and mounting requirements: these are two other great features of a new GPS unit. These devices are also suitable for hikers, joggers or any other categories of sports activities. The speed of reaction in a GPS receiver is below twenty seconds which means a high level of convenience and comfort for the user.

Moreover, the compatibility between GPS devices and cell phones has increased, not to mention that smartphones provide both communication and navigation advantages in one. The cell phone carries all the new GPS features, which makes access, connection and orientation a lot easier. Personal navigation has certainly improved considerably, and we certainly make everything in our power to save time and be efficient.

Very large databases, 3-D moving maps, turn-by-turn directions are features that only complete an already evolved device. Venue ratings for restaurants, info on gas stations and local attraction points, gas price details and many other services only complete the list of good GPS applications. The better the new GPS design, the shorter the time before it can access the satellites and calculate your position. Remember that you can set the distance alert if you need it and should it be the case, try the capacity of your GPS for geo-catching. They in fact enable the user to create personal maps according to the captured data, but except for those who really need individual mapping, the average traveler will seldom use such a feature.

Advice On The Portable Ipaq Gps System

By Trevor Gartreese

iPAQ GPS devices and mapping software are widely used for quality navigation in crowded urban areas or in the highway networks. With an iPAQ GPS, the coordinates are easy to get and follow, and traveling becomes really stress free. iPAQ has a photo viewing application that allows one to add coordinates to pictures and then store them for later applications.

The map will thus display the photos according to the geographic coordinates. The iPAQ technology enables users to create personal mapping systems according to personal and business needs. The iPAQ GPS provides good marketing tools, the possibility to transfer property and land data as well as access to web portals.

The iPAQ GPS provides visual and vocal guidance for the access to the shortest routes that save time and money. Produced by HP, the iPAQ navigation system has a high range of compatibility with many pocket PC models. The most advantages are a bit pricey as not everyone can afford to pay $330 for the iPAQ GPS system, no matter how high tech it may be. Complete maps of the US and Canada are provided together with a Bluetooth receiver. As for travel quality, most users will find iPAQ pretty rewarding in terms of features and functionality.

Besides the good parts, there are downsides to the iPAQ GPS too, and you'll find them explained in lots of online reviews. Considered a bit bulky according to some critics, the receiver makes a good match with the dashboard by its anti- slip features. You can also try mounting the iPAQ GPS on the air vent. It comes with a built-in Bluetooth technology that makes the wireless connection and the data transfer possible, and you can perform the map installation upload according to the radius segments that you see fit. When you've got the maps you can navigate by contact list, by favorite destinations, by specific address and by intersection.

The iPAQ GPS device enables the user to choose various courses of action; thus, you can avoid highways and use alternative roads or you can follow the shortest route to the destination. The software used on iPAQ GPS is less comprehensive than that of similar competitive products, but the real-time information and the turn-by-turn directions are really great. Thus, you can find out the remaining distance or the estimated time of arrival and also learn about hotels, ATMs, gas stations and restaurants. iPAQ GPS rerouting features are very good and the device is very accurate in helping you get on the right track when you miss a turn.

Handheld Auto Navigation Systems

By Junior Vaughn

There exists several diverse kinds of auto navigation systems today. Among the many you will find those that come factory installed, those that are attached to the interior of your automobile through the use of suction cups, and still others that are handheld devices which can simply be installed by attaching a cord to your cars cigarette lighter.

These devices don't offer quite the functionality and ease of use as some of the other (need I say pricier) types of navigational devices but you should not be fooled by features that you might not find all that useful in reality.

I'm a bargain hunter by nature. There's just nothing I think can be done to alter my thrifty nature (even though some people might go ahead to call it "cheap" nature). I love the nice things of life and love buying them but don't want to pay too much money for them. For this reason alone I decided to seriously consider some of the many handheld navigational tools on the market today.

I find these tools very attractive and I have my reasons for this. Foremost, they are very suitable for lots of purposes. Apart from being very useful when you travel by car (if you buy the proper software of course), they are also relatively necessary when you travel off road too. Whether it is when you are biking, wheeling in the country, hiking in the mountains and hills, or even when you are riding horses right there in the wide open spaces, you can use them.

Personally, my favorite use for these awesome tools however is when used on the water. I am very horrible when it comes to navigation; that is why a mapping handheld GPS is precisely the thing I need to help me stay on the right track and target. You might be different from me, but for me I always absolutely hate that feeling that tells me I am totally lost.

It's indeed very frightening to feel lost and it gets even worse when there are children with you during such lost moments. Of course, only someone that has ever experienced the sick feeling of having to look into the eyes of your babies and feeling so lost and alone can really understand what I am trying to say here. There really are not enough adequate words that one can use in describing the deep-rooted fear that can grab you if such situations happen.

The best action to take is proactive. It's a very good idea to avoid such situations completely when you feel so lost. This of course, hasn't always been possible in the past. Surely, having the right navigational tool with you at every time can really help in reducing the fear and even help to calm you when you have to travel to places that you are not familiar with.

Having devices that help in finding our way when we are lost is absolutely important, especially as just about everyone usually strays and gets lost. If you are looking for a great gift to give almost anyone on your Christmas list this year, a nice handheld GPS system with mapping capabilities is a great gift to give. But of course you shouldn't have to wait for the holidays to come around before you can give such gifts, particularly if you're giving the gift to someone that you care for their safety very well.

I strongly think that any person that boats, hikes, drives, rows, floats or bikes would find very good use for tools such as this, most especially those females that seem to enjoy such activities and enjoy them alone. It really does not matter what your exact needs are when it comes to auto navigation systems, there are obviously lots of systems that can be just right for you.

Take the time to study what is available and reconcile your needs with your budget in order to find the one that will work best for you. Handheld GPS systems with mapping abilities offer a highly affordable option along with some surprising extra features, which will make them attractive in and out of the automobile. Good luck in finding the perfect auto navigation system for you. It's out there somewhere.
